Specifications for ConveyanceLink conveyancing case management

The following details the minimum hardware and software specifications required to run ConveyanceLink. Click on any of the links for further information.

Workstations

The following software must be installed on each PC where CL8 will be installed:

Microsoft Windows XP or above
To check which operating system you have installed:
1. Right-click on My Computer
2. Click on Properties
Microsoft Office 2003 or above
To check which version of Microsoft Office you have installed:
1. Open Microsoft Word
2. Click on Help > About Microsoft Office Word
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
To check if you have Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed:
1. Click Start > Control Panel
2. Double-click on Add/Remove Programs (XP) or Programs & Features (Vista)
3. Check that Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is present in the list. If it is not, you can download and install it for free using Windows Update

The following is a guide to the minimum hardware specification for CL8 to operate comfortably:

Intel Pentium 3 650Mhz CPU
To check what processor (CPU) you have installed:
1. Right-click on My Computer
2. Click on Properties
Minimum 1GB of RAM required
To check how much memory (RAM) you have installed:
1. Right-click on My Computer
2. Click on Properties
Memory may be displayed in kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB). 1GB = 1024MB = 1,048,576KB.

Server/Host Machine

The following software must be installed on the server/host machine where the CL8 data will reside:

Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Vista, 7, SBS 2000 or 2003
To check which operating system you have installed:
1. Right-click on My Computer
2. Click on Properties
Internet Information Services (IIS) 5 or above
To check if you have IIS installed:
1. Click Start > Control Panel
2. Double-click on Administrative Tools
3. Check that Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager is present in the list. If it is not, you can install it using the using the Add or Remove Windows Components feature in Add/Remove Programs

The following specifications must also be followed in order for CL8 to operate correctly:

Must have at least 0.5GB spare RAM (not Virtual Memory)
This is to accommodate CL8 and its prerequisite software on top of any existing programs installed on the server. More RAM may be necessary for larger practices.

To check how much memory (RAM) you have installed:
1. Right-click on My Computer
2. Click on Properties
To check how much RAM is actually being used:
1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard
2. Click on Task Manager
3. Click on the Performance tab
4. The Memory indicator will tell you how much RAM is currently in use. CL8 requires at least 0.5GB RAM free to operate.
Memory may be displayed in kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB) or gigabytes (GB). 1GB = 1024MB = 1,048,576KB.
TCP ports 80 and 1433 must be open inbound and outbound

TCP ports 80 and 1433 must be open for inbound and outbound traffic to our fixed IP address 195.97.253.154 in order for CL8 to be able to synchronise with our server and send SMS/email updates out to your clients.

Please note that the Netgear ProSafe range of routers can still block CL8 data from being synchronised even with ports 80 and 1433 open, and so are not suitable for use with CL8.

Miscellaneous

The following outlines further considerations for optimal performance:

Minimum 1024 x 768 screen resolution strongly recommended
To check or change your current screen resolution setting:
1. Right-click on your Desktop
2. Click on Properties (XP) or Personalize (Vista)
3. Click on the Settings tab (XP) or Display Settings link (Vista)
4. Move the Resolution slider to set it to 1024 x 768 pixels, then click OK
Wired network strongly recommended

ConveyanceLink will operate over a wireless network, but users can experience severe performance issues due to the lower data transfer rates of wireless networks compared to wired networks (54Mbps as opposed to 100Mbps+), and the inherent connectivity problems that can affect wireless networks, such as loss of connection, poor quality signal and obstacles affecting line of sight between the router and computers.
